Haven't you always wondered how Hawaiian culture got the way it is today? This site will help to explain that.
This is a web page about how the Filipino people came to Hawaii and affected Hawaii's culture. Through this project I set out to answer two essential questions:
1. How did/does Hawaii benefit from the immigration of this culture during the plantation era?
2. In hindsight, did the original immigrants make a good decision in immigrating to Hawaii to work on the plantations? (Consider the lives of their grandchildren.)
I also answered seven fundamental questions:
1. When did they come to Hawaii?
2. How did they get here?
3. How did their population grow over time?
4. How did they contribute to the economy after the plantation era?
5. What contributions did they make to food?
6. What contributions did they make to language?
7. What contributions did they make to dance, sports, and other culture?
Throughout the web-site you can find the answers to these questions by looking at the five creative and written projects I've completed. Click on the links on the side of the page to see each project.
